1. Our Background

The Yangon School of Social Work (YSSW) is Myanmar’s pioneering online private institution dedicated to social work education, capacity development, and the professionalization of the social work sector. Established in September 2021, YSSW responds to the growing need for ethical, competent, and practice-ready social workers across the country.

YSSW offers a one-year Diploma in Social Work, including 200 hours of supervised field practicum, alongside short-term training programs, project-based learning, community-based trauma healing sessions, social work consultancy services, and design thinking for life coaching. Our programs strengthen both academic and practical competencies, equipping learners to address Myanmar’s evolving social challenges. Guided by a market systems development approach, YSSW goes beyond education delivery to generate practice-informed research, conduct social work trends analysis, and provide direction mapping that informs curriculum development, capacity building, and sector priorities. We actively share knowledge through digital platforms and learning communities, contributing to collective learning across the social service sector. More than an educational institution, YSSW is a platform of hope, committed to affordable, high-quality education and scholarships so learners from all backgrounds can become capable social change agents. Through internships, alumni networks, and partnerships with organizations, we support learners’ transition from education to practice and long-term professional pathways.
